How do I login to ScoutBook?

ScoutBook Plus can be accessed online at https://advancements.scouting.org/.

Additionally, a mobile app is available for Apple and Android users.  Search for the red “Scouting” app in your app store.

First Time Users:

A parent is the only person who can give a Scout access to their records online. Unit Admins are not able to grant a Scout access to their records.

To do that, a parent should create a new My.Scouting account for their child. The child will need their own unique email address. Also the parent should ask their unit leader for the Scout’s member ID (this comes in handy when adding them.)

If you get stuck, contact the Troop 332 advancement team for assistance.

What is ScoutBook?

ScoutBook is the official Scouting America website used to track advancementcamping nights, services hours, and other similar activities.  While it does offer additional features, Troop 332 uses other tools and primarily focuses ScoutBook usage on the above mentioned areas.

Who Can Use ScoutBook?

ScoutBook is available to youth Scouts, parents/guardians, Troop leaders, and merit badge counselors.

What can a Scout do in ScoutBook?

Rank Advancement

ScoutBook is the EASIST place to see a Scout’s full advancement progress.  It is very visual and interactive to help a Scout move along in their journey.

In addition to their printed handbook, Scouts can monitor their advancement progress.  Scouts can see rank requirements and progress towards achieving them.  Scouts can track their progress in ScoutBook.

A hidden gem is that a Scout can even print their Eagle Scout application directly from ScoutBook!

Note: any updates made by a Scout still need approved by Troop leaders prior to counting toward their official record.

Merit Badges

Scouts working on merit badges will be connected to an adult counselor.  Together, they can view merit badge requirements and track progress towards them online. In some cases, such as summer camp, merit badges will be completed offline and updated online at a later time.  Completed merit badges can be easily viewed as well.

Special Awards

Scouts can view all ‘official’ special Scouting awards earned, such as the “50-miler” for a long backpacking or canoe trip.

Logging Service Hours, Camping Nights, and Hiking Trips

Scouts can log and record their service hours, camping nights, and hiking in ScoutBook.  Troop 332 enters a record of most troop related camping trips in ScoutBook on behalf of the Scout, but trips outside of the troop are to be recorded by the Scout.

What can a Parent/Guardian do in ScoutBook?

Parents and guardians have the same abilities as the Scout.  For younger and newly joined Scouts, we encourage families to help Scouts track their progress and develop good record keeping habits.
